INFORMATION ABOUT ANGERS | |
Angers is located in western France in the Loire Valley just one hour from the coast and 2 1/2 hours from Paris. Angers provides a wonderful backdrop for travelers including a very old chateau, a majestic cathedral, and a thriving shopping district and nightlife. The splendid climate and close proximity to France's biggest river has earned this area the name of "The Garden of France." This region is also rich with history ( it was the center of French at "la renaissance" and English at the time of Richard Heart of Lion) with over 1000 castles and 100 chateaus. Wine lovers can enjoy the area's famous red, white and rose wines, while food lovers can enjoy the area's wonderful French cuisine. Yearly festivals include the theater festival in June and July, ongoing music festivals in area churches, and world champion horse riding in Le lyon d'Angers. |
