The rooms were small but they were able to accommodate the four of us comfortably. There were a few minor plumbing and electrical problems and holding staff seemed to be a problem at the time.

The staff and attention to detail are simply wonderful. This was my first visit to London and Margaret is an excellent source of information about the city and surrounding area especially transportation options including the tube. She is an outstanding cook and breakfast is top-notch experience. This was a business trip and my meetings took place at the nearby Olympia Exhibition Centre. It was truly a delight to stay here and avoid the typical cookie cutter hotel chains. I would stay here again for business or vacation. Margaret and the staff make the difference!

Furnishings would have been rated "good" except for the fact that the drapes and bedspread were faded and worn and especially because of the terribly stained seats in the chair and stool -- truly disgusting.
Breakfast might have been rated "good" except for the fact that the week-end hostess was untrained in dealing with the public, was slow in clearing the tables so that other guests could be seated, burned something in the kitchen so that the dining room became smokey, and generally did not serve well.
The owner of the hotel broke our contract agreement to provide us a room for 5 nights, telling us we would have to move in 3 days. The room she had assigned to us had a major plumbing problem that would take days to repair, and the room she placed us in was available for only 3 days. Of course, she could have let us stay and cancelled the incoming party, but her decision was for us to go. She booked us into another hotel which she said was of similar quality but, in fact, lacked several amenities and was not nearly as attractive as Avonmore. Had we broken our contract obligations by not showing up or by cancelling within 3 weeks, we would have lost a minimum of one night's stay. Avonmore lost only the cost of a cab fare to send us to the other hotel, while we lost the better part of a day re-packing and re-locating. We would not recommend this hotel to friends, nor will we stay there again.

The friendliness of Margaret McKenzie stands out in our 3 night stay at the Avonmore. She is charming and made us feel like friends and not customers. One suspects that is one of the advantages of staying at a small hotel - this was a new experience for us. The hotel - or B&B which is a better description - is located very close to the Underground whihc makes London easy to get around in. The price was relatively reasonable for London and this made our decision to stay there.

My wife had stayed at this property two years ago. But this was the first visit for my grandson and me. The breakfast was outstanding, the rooms were excellent, the location near the West Kensington Underground station very convenient, and the personality and expertise of the staff (especially owner Margaret McKenzie) was almost too good to be true. A real value even at a higher price. If you're looking for a negative, this is no lift and you might have to carry your bags up four flights; but, on the other hand, if needed the staff will help you carry them.

Avonemore was a great place to stay. We received first rate service. The location is excellent; close to the tube but in a residential area.

The Avonmore hotel is located in a quiet, predominantly residential neighborhood. The room was clean and equipt with a television and mini refrigerator. The hotel is located within a short walk to the West Kensington tube station or, alternatively, the Olympic bus stop. My friend and I were even able to walk from the hotel to Kensington Palace. The staff was very helpful and the English breakfast was hearty and filling. The Avonmore offers an economically priced lodging option for a London visit.

We had six people in our party, so we required three rooms. We had a darling and very convenient arrangement because our three rooms were separated from the main hallway by a door, so we had our own suite. With our two younger daughters along, this was more secure and freeing. We could go from room to room, leave doors open, and not worry about disturbing neighbors. My husband and I had our own in-room bathroom, and the other two rooms shared a bathroom outside the suite that was for our use alone. The rooms were a comfortable size, not at all cramped. It felt like we were in a slightly smaller (but not lesser quality) Holiday Inn or Sheraton. This will be the first place we call when we come back. It is perfect for a family of four with two grandmothers. You will pay more than in the States for the same quality; it is not cheap. The convenience and security made it completely worth it. The people were all helpful, warm, and very accommodating, and the breakfasts were made to order. The biggest plus for us were the quality of the rooms themselves and the arrangement of our rooms.

My family of five stayed at the Avonmore for 10 nights. We very much enjoyed the hospitality we received - Margaret and her friendly staff accomodated us with special breakfast items, helped us to hire a car, and assisted in finding a place to do our laundry. We slept very well in the quiet neighborhood and really felt at home at the Avonmore!

My husband, father and I stayed for three nights at the Avonmore Hotel at the beginning of November. Margaret and her staff could not have been more accomodating and hospitable! We found the hotel to be spotlessly clean and very well cared for. the location is great... jsut a few minutes walk to the buses. We will definitely return!

This B and B is about a 15 minute walk from the tube station and very convenient to buses. There is not a lift in the house so carrying luggage up the narrow stairs may be a challenge but the staff is willing to help if needed. It is obvious that Margaret loves what she does and wants to do it very well...she is very interested in feedback from her guests (the good as well as the bad) and addresses concerns appropriately. The breakfast is a highlight of this B and B!

The difference was in the small detail provided by the staff. Here is a little story to illustrate my point: a waitress emptied some of the contents of a plate of Thai food on my clothes. I ran back to the hotel and the member of staff on duty, helped me deal with the "emergency" as if I were at home.
I had a positive, personal response to all my requests and felt at all time as if at home away from home. I wish to remark that the place IS clean, smells clean and feels clean.
The location, though not a part of London I was familiar with, appears to be one of the few of central London that have that "local community" feel about it. It is easy to reach any place from it as it is well place on the public transpor network.

Relatively well located close to public transportation. Wonderful owner and staff! No elevator to get you to the top floors. Be prepared to travel light or ask for assistance.

I have stayed at this B&B three times, and each time have received the same friendly, helpful and warm welcome.
One can find many very acceptable B&B's but it is rare to find one that makes one feels as though you are a friend of the owner!! Margaret is delightfully warm and friendly. Her personality is also reflected in the warm ambiance of the rooms and breakfast room.
I would not hesitate in recommending 'The Avonmore' to anyone and will certainly use it again during my next stay in London.

We had a delightful stay at Avonmore this past spring. It has a great location on a quiet residential street with easy access to the tube and bus. Margaret is a great hostess! I would certainly return on my next visit to London.

For the area, I found this B&B to be of great value. It was a 3 minute walk to my office which was very convenient. Only suggestion for improvement would be to consider broadening the number of television channels available.

Margaret and her staff run a very pleasant, clean, and well-maintained hotel. The breakfasts were first-rate, and at the end of a hard day of shopping and museum touring, the downstairs bar was my refuge while my wife and daughter got themselves ready for the evening adventures. The building is on a quiet residential street, and an easy walk to local shops and restaurants, as well as small markets, a dry cleaner (had my daughter's soiled slacks ready the same day for no extra charge) a laundromat and a tube station. There is no lift, so you have to be prepared to climb some stairs, but the staff is ready to assist you if someting awkward or heavy needs to be taken upstairs.

Margaret, one of the owners could not have been more accomodating. As we were not "big" breakfast eaters she was happy to provide us with a lighter fare of fruit and yogurt. They are very accessible to the tube and bus lines and she drew us maps for the easy few minute walk. She had plenty of brochures handy to help us pick what we hoped to see each day and was a wealth of helpful information on almost any topic we could come up with.

The Avonmore Hotel is clean, well-maintained, and run by a conscientious innkeeper and staff. It is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood and is a little out of the way, but since it is only a few blocks from the Underground subway, all parts of London are easily accessible.
