We have stayed in B/B's throughout Europe but never in as delightful a one as CASCINA MOTTO in the small countryside village of Divignano, Italy. Owner Roberta has converted a farm house on 5 acres of lawn, roses and flowers everywhere, swimming pool, bocce court into an exquisite b/b. You can stay in the huge family home in a cozy and beautifully decorated room with a huge bathroom or you can opt to stay in the converted tool/utility house which has a living/kitchen down and a bedroom upstairs. The entire exterior is covered with trellised roses. We had a superb breakfast on the terrace with several kinds of breads, homemade jams, yogurt, fruit and coffee/tea. And, besides being in an idyllic setting in this quiet little town of 1000 persons, you are only a 20 minute drive to Malpensa, the Milan airport. And, in another direction only another 20 minute drive to the lakes of Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore. How good can it get? Our friends from Switzerland drove down to spend a few days with us and we all agreed, "We'll be back!"

Very pleasant hosts, a quiet street in an quiet village, an easy 20 minute drive to Malpensa. We got lost in the village and a gentleman, since there was a language barrier, climbed in and directed us to the door. We found it excellent in every regard. Charlie Bond

Very convenient hop from Malpensa. Captivating area near the scenic lakes. The warmth of this extended family, the soft scent of the gardens, and the quaintness of the village setting are a lingering dream long after the visit is over. This charming B & B is surely what Italy is all about! Bravo! Bella Italia!

I will always have the fondest and sweetest memories of my stay at Casa Motto. I went to Devignano in August of 2001 seeking peace and answers during a very difficult time in my life. I must say that at first, I was not sure of my choice in choosing a B&B rather than my usual stay at a busy hotel. I soon learned that I had made the right decision in staying at this quaint B&B. The grounds were beautiful and imaculate. The B&B is made up of the main house where the family that runs it, live. There is also an ancient stone cottage on the property and this is where I chose to stay. The stone cottage is graced with foliage and beautiful climbing roses that climb up to the second floor. On the first floor of this cottage there is a small kitchen full of amenities and a livingroom. There is a staircase that leads up to a loft which has a bedroom with a balcony and a bathroom. The balcony looks out onto a great swimming pool. I took day trips to the lake regions which were beautiful. The local restaurants had excellent food at reasonable prices. The most touching part about staying at Casa Motto were being with the owners of the B&B itself. They made me feel like part of their family. Roberta and David were excellent hosts. I know that if I ever return to Italy, it will be to the Northern region. I hope that one day I will make my way back to Devignano to my Casa Motto again. I was a lovely stay. Our staying with the Plevani family was a wonderful experience. Not only because the Cascina Motto itself is a little paradise –clean, cosy and exquisite decorated– but also because of the hospitality and friendship they gave us during aur staying. We slept in the enchanted and independent cottage, in their garden. It was very romantic, and, at the same time, we also spent some moments with Roberta, the owner, and her family. They are very interesting, fun and open people, which you can talk about art, life and everything with, shareing a nice red wine from the region. From Cascina Motto we made nice excursions by car everyday to lago Maggiore and visited Isola Bella, Isola Madre… They were great vacations and we always recommend it to our friends. It's really worth it.

We stayed in the two-story cottage, which allows for independent cooking. Our stay was wonderful, and we found our host, Roberta Plevani, to be exceptional in every way: from providing an appetizing breakfast, to giving directions to local sites of interest, to engaging in conversation about the local area. We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone that wishes to travel in the Piedmont region.
