Alesia Stuart For a lovely site, friendly hosts, and the comforts of home, Dormouse House is the B&B that can provide the peace and tranquility of a vacation and the excitement of a venture to a new world. Take time to chat with the hosts prior to arrival and be prepared for a visit to remember. submitted 06 Aug 2007 -

Wendy de Vrede Villennes, a pittoresque and quite village near Paris (just 25 minutes away by train). Everyday you have the choice to search for the mondain and great Paris or to look out for the calmness of 'la campagne'. Dormouse, beautifully decorated and designed, nice, spacious and welcoming rooms. Lisa is a great cook and helpfull. We were there in winter, but I imagine that it must be great to sit in summer with a view to the Seine valley and all the flowers in the garden. Ideal place for when you are by car (parking), but because the train station is near (20 minutes walk) you can move easily when you don't have a car.

Robert A word about a very special place with a special name--Dormouse House--just outside Paris. When you are in this beautiful village you feel 300 miles from Paris, but the truth is you're just minutes away by train. The 11th century church in the center of town is one reason. The hills and dales and the river running through it are others. Dormouse House is lovely place with incredible gardens from which the owner prepares the most delicious home-cooked meals. The bedrooms are all comfortable, clean, and serene, in contrast to many more costly ones in Paris. To experience both rural and urban France in one holiday, I can't think of a better place to stay than Dormouse House and I've been visiting France for 48 years, ever since I went to school in Paris in the late 1950s. Finally, the hostess of the House is Lisa Quinn, whom guests will come to regard as a friend, even after a short stay. Her goal is to offer visitors a restorative holiday and a respite from the kinetic pace of Paris, and she delivers. A top rating seems inadequate. -- Robert Fuller, Berkeley, CA submitted 20 Oct 2005 -

shannon chamberlin The physical accommodations are comparable to any 4 star hotel in Paris, but in Paris you don't have the kind warm pampering that Lisa makes every effort to give her guests. This place is a truely special experience and I can offer just one word...GO! submitted 03 Oct 2005 -

Jennifer Vosters Hi! We stayed at the Dormouse House for three nights the first week in July and really enjoyed our time in Paris. My parents celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary there and Lisa made a great meal for us all to enjoy, which was really special. Our parents stayed in the Blue Room and my three sisters and I stayed in the attic room and the music room...Lisa set up a fold-out bed and a mattress for the two of us in the music room, which worked out well. The views are great, Villenes-sur-Seine is a sweet, idyllic town, and we enjoyed taking the train in and out of Paris. We were also close enough to drive to Monet’s Gardens and Versailles to spend a day there! We had a hilarious time at the Dormouse House and definitely laughed a lot, and my sisters loved the crepes at breakfast, Lisa! Thanks so much!

shannon chamberlin It is an amazing experience to stay a Jack and Lisa's and I'm so glad that we did! The accommodations are beautiful and very very comfortable. The new bed in the attic room was heavenly. Villenes-sur Seine is a lovely town, and the air is clean. We stayed in Paris before going to the Dormouse, and the sick feeling we'd had of breathing bad air disappeared as soon as we arrived, even though the B&B is just a short distance outside of the city. The best part of the stay was Lisa and Jack. The first night Jack took us aroud on a unique and special tour of the area. Lisa was a bounty of invaluable information, a wonderful cook and an amazing hostess. We truly can't wait to return! submitted 21 May 2005 -

Michel Le Séac'h There have been a lot of wonderful additions at Dormouse House since I was there last - a new bathroom in the attic bedroom, a pond, more art and antiques, new linens, and it looks really fantastic! But the best things there haven't changed: Lisa and Jack's friendliness and hospitality, their willingness to help, Lisa's cooking, the great location, and the reasonable rates. Guests should not hesitate to stay at dormouse house rather than inside Paris as it is so easy to get to Paris yet it is so much calmer and restful that you appreciate your time in Paris more. Also, of course it is better value and you get so much more space and comfort! And the best thing is what you can't put a price on: Lisa and Jack's kindness and love for what they are doing!

Sigurbjörn Jakobsson We highly recommend staying at Lisa and Jack’s Dormouse House.
We really enjoyed staying there.
The house and the rooms are homey, the garden is beautiful and the hospitality and helpfulness of Lisa was quite unique. Unfortunately Jack was away during our stay.
We loved the location.
Only a minute’s train ride away from downtown Paris, but still enjoying the nature and the calmness of the countryside, Dormouse House is situated in a beautiful town on the banks of the river Seine.
We stayed there for five nights, which of three of them we had dinners there. “Oh boy” what a delicious dinners we had. Lisa is a brilliant chef and prepared for us marvellous meals.
We especially recommend the chocolate mousse; it is the best mousse we ever tasted and probably the best in the world.
We will recommend Dormouse House to our friends who want to visit Paris/France and we will definitely stay at Dormouse House again.

Therese and Gary Morse My husband and I stayed at the Dormouse House from 2/29/04-3/4/04 - we wish to comment that Jack and Lisa were wonderful hosts. Their house is beautiful and we enjoyed two dinners at their home - one Lisa had prepared and one Jack had prepared. Lisa had to go to the States on the second day we were there - so we were in Jack's care and guidance. He was a wonderful host and very helpful to us. In the town of Villennes-Sur-Seine -none of the restaurants were open when we were there so when we ate out we went to Poissy which is about ten minutes away. The restaurant was Pattaya. They specialize in Thai and Asian food and the food and service was excellent. There are quite a few restauants there. The train station was right in the village and easy access to Paris. We thoroughly enjoyed Versailles - incredible. We weren't too impressed with Paris - it is your typical large and congested city. The surrounding small towns were beautiful. All the people we met were wonderful and very helpful with directions. We would definitely recommend the Dormouse House. Thank you - Therese and Gary Morse, Providence, RI submitted 18 Apr 2004 -

Robin Valle I extended a business trip in Paris and spent 4 lovely days and nights at Dormouse House. The house and gardens were so beautiful and the inn keepers were so lovely and acommodating. The guest suite was very clean and well furnished with lovely views from the bedroom. The antique bed was unbeliveably comfortable and I'm very particular about beds since I travel on business so much.
I was alone and did not have a car but didn't have to worry at all about maps, directions or information about what to do or where to go. The inn keepers were so kind about taking me down to the train station and picking me up. Lisa graciously offered to make many phone calls on my behalf to procure appointments and I was especially grateful when she phoned a Paris department store to try and locate my lost wallet.
The unexpected bonus of my stay was enjoying Lisa's marvelous organic produce and cooking. I chose to have dinner at the inn all 4 nights of my stay and am so glad I did. The food was amazing-homemade organic pasta sauce, grilled lamb, roast chicken, fresh vegetables, homemade apple pie and chocoate mousse. I happened to mention that I love whole grain bread and before I knew if, Lisa was making bread from scratch to have with breakfast. After long days of walking and exploring, the hot tub was fabulous.
I can't say enough about my stay at Dormouse House. I definitely plan to return one day-sooner rather than later. submitted 30 Oct 2003 -

Kathleen Hargreaves/Jim Yoksimovich Jack and Lisa were amazing hosts! We felt we had known them for years after just a short time. Their home is warm, inviting and very beautifully decorated with art and antiques. The guest room is private, very comfortable, with an amazing view out the large picture window.
Lisa cooked us two very memorable dinners and is an excellent cook/chef.
The location is perfect to explore Giverny, Versailles etc, and is just a short train ride to downtown Paris.
We will definately return to Dormouse House and recommend it to our friends who want to visit Paris/France.
