Melanie and Capt. Yohn were wonderful hosts! The rooms were absolutely spotless and beautifully furnished. The theme changes from room to room; the first room my husband and I stayed was over our honeymoon weekend. The room was romantically furnished with antiques and elegant bedding (in the main house). We came back in the fall and stayed in one of the nautical themed rooms (behind the main house); we had a wonderful view of the wetlands, and even more pampering from the innkeepers. (After dinner one evening, we arrived back in our room to find fresh-baked cookies and chocolate dipped strawberries). Also, you must take a trip on the elkhorn slough safari!! I'm not such a naturalist, but I do enjoy watching the wildlife. In fact, going on this trip is a little like being in a national geographic special. We saw over 26 species of birds and many otters and sea lions flipping around in the water. If you stay at the Captain's Inn, you will receive a free binocular rental for the slough. Well worth the money; just remember to bundle up for the ride.

A wonderful inn in a sleepy coastal town on Monterey Bay. Sea Lions, Harbor Seals and numerous birds visible from the inn itself. The Parlor is a wonderful place to sit and read or to play scrabble in front of the fireplace. Very highly reccomended!!
