nancy laymon I stayed with my dog in the bungalow. It was quiet and secluded but I felt very safe. I enjoyed the fire at night inside and the stars outside. The short stroll thought the fields surrounding the cabin were beautiful and serene. Lyn and Bob were very warm and friendly and made us feel very welcome.
The bungalow showed some signs of pet visits, in that the carpet was stained and there were some unpleasent odors. But I thoroughly enjoyed being able to have my dog with me and we both had a great time.

Jayne Cantor I've rated this B&B superior on every question because the experience we had was indeed superior, from the lovely room with deck to the gourmet breakfast. The additional touches were the complimentary wine, the bathrobes, the fresh flowers in the room, and the sherry and appetizers at 5:00. The view was spectacular and the hummingbirds at the window and the quails crossing the road were an additional treat. We'd stay there again in a minute. submitted 31 Aug 2007 -

Richard Coulter If you want to experience a valued vacation in the heavenly and glorious part of the USA then Mendocino County is heaven and the Fensalden Inn is the place to stay. Friendly Exciting Natural Superior Appealing Leisurely Delightful Entertaining Natural Linda and I had the memorable experience of staying at the Fensalden Inn bed and breakfast for eight unusual days celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary as well as visiting with our youngest daughter in Albion. Lyn and Bob our gregarious hosts extended gracious and rewarding hospitality. Our enjoyment surrounded the beauty of the Inn and the creatures that reside there; pygmy goats, hummingbirds, deer, and ducks. We had the pleasure of residing in the 'hippie' bungalow with all the benefits of the 60's. The gourmet breakfasts will be missed and so will the picturesque and unobstructed sights of the Pacific. We cannot truly wait for our future return. Richard & Linda Coulter - Chicago IL submitted 08 Oct 2006 -

Raymond Cho I've visited Napa and the Mendocino Coast dozens of times, and I can't honestly say there is a single other bed and breakfast that I ever felt I must return to. The thing that makes the Fensalden Inn special are the owners - they're warm, they cook sinful, unbelievable breakfasts, they negotiate rates for wine with nice vinters downtown, and perhaps more importantly, they make you feel like they'd rather be doing this than anything else in the world.
Don't miss the hummingbirds. submitted 08 Sep 2005 -

Jeff Kaiser The crisp sea air wafted up the gentle grassy slope leading to my private porch. With the door open, I had a perfect view down to the ocean below as I lay in bed, gazing over my morning paper. A fresh cup of coffee in hand and the warm fire in the corner stove made these early morning hours some of the most comfortable and memorable I’ve ever had. submitted 31 Jul 2005 -

We stayed in the cottage and when darkness feel the stars were everywhere and the sound of the ocean in the background. What a rare opportunity to become one with the universe! Lyn and Bob are wonderful hosts, ready to welcome you in as if you were long lost friends! Time seems to stop as you undwind and enjoy the surroundings, the chirp of the birds, the quack of the ducks, and the playfulness of the goats; Nanette and Dominick! Carol Wilcox Fendaden Inn was the hilight of our trip to California last October, 2004. My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and spent three nights at the Inn. The Innkeepers, Lyn and Bob, made our stay very special and we felt so comfortable there, that I wish we had booked it for the whole 10 days of our trip. The first thing I mention about our trip was the wonderful bed and breakfast we stayed at. I have recommended it to all our friends and family. Hope we can get out there again and will plan on staying longer. Carol and Jack Wilcox, Torrington, Ct 06790 submitted 06 Jan 2005 -

Kimberly Ehret Fensalden is a beautiful property that oozes romance. One feels like they are staying at a quintisential county house with specatular views of the ocean, and punctuated by a happy golden retriever. We woke to deer outside our floorlength windows looking out across a green pasture to the ocean. What more could you ask for? Bob and Lynn are fantastic people with great personalities and a masters degree in hopitatity. submitted 04 Jan 2005 -

Vivian Iwasa My boyfriend and I had our first romantic getaway together and spent it at Fensalden Inn. We were not disappointed. It was so comfortable and relaxing, with the wonderful hosts of Lyn and Bob. They made our stay so welcoming and we didn't feel like leaving. Our room, the Hawthorne Suite, was incredibly romantic, with the four poster bed situated so that you could see the ocean, lying in bed. We LOVED the fact that there were no telephones or TVs in the room. And we made great use of the fireplace! :) On top of this, the home made breakfast was amazing!! I will never forget the "dutch baby" that Lyn made...talk about delicious!! This is the type of place you want to keep a secret for yourself. My boyfriend and I will be returning for sure. submitted 03 Jun 2004 -

Sherry Hedstrom Although the picturesque and peaceful surroundings at Fensalden Inn are wonderful, and the food is to die for, what is truly remarkable is the true hospitality that is provided by Lynn and Bob. During our 2 stays there (so far!) they have felt like family and welcomed us into their "home" in such a warm and welcoming way. They truly Love what they are sharing there...the country atmosphere, the ocean town, the animals, the spectacular inn and their wonderful cooking. Care is taken with every detail and every person is made to feel special and appreciated (special dietary needs are remembered and not meant to seem like a burden, etc). I will keep in touch with Lynn and Bob for many years to come and would recommend this location to anyone. It's great for weddings too!!! |
