Can't say enough positive about our experience at Banana Courtyard. THE MOST HELPFUL place we've ever stayed. Great location and wonderful accommodations that gave us a glimpse into the past. We NOW KNOW the meaning of Southern hospitality and what they call "lagniappe", which we were told is a little something extra that's free. If you want to get to know a city, hosts there go overboard highlighting maps to get you where you want to go, answering any and all questions, recomending places to eat (budget or top notch, their sugestions were terific!), nightclubs, sightseeing. We ate, drank, danced, listened to more types of music than we imagined possible. Oh. Because we liked it so much, we extended our stay 2 nights. Our room at the B&B wasn't available, but they had their townhouse free. We thought nothing could be better than our room at B&B. We were wrong. The Garconiere was even better. It was a fairy tale come true. Balcony, courtyard, real OLDE New Orleans, built in the early 1800's and aorund the corner from Bourbon St. too. JG

Since our firsit visit to the Banana Courtyard B&B, we've never wanted to stay anywhere else when we visit N'awlins. Hugh & Mary made us feel at home and made sure that we had everything we needed, including maps, recommendations, reservations, lists of sites of interest, etc. They are always available, friendly and helpful, but never intrude. The B&B is convenient to the French Quarter and within walking distance of all the "good stuff". Security for ourselves and for our car is outstanding. Thought has been given to every detail. Whether for a romantic hideaway or a business trip, Banana Courtyard gets 5 stars from us. R&FB

I have stayed once at the main B&B and once at the Garconierre townhouse. In both instances, the innkeepers graciously made an exception for the fact that I was traveling with a small but well-behaved child. I can't say enough good things about the level of service provided at Banana Courtyard. From the minute you first log onto their old AOL web page, you are bombarded with essential information about New Orleans that is helpful even if you don't stay at the Inn. I believe that if one were to print the AOL page, it would come out to about 70+ pages of hard copy, so don't do it! There is also a newer site at bananacourtyard.com that is a little more user friendly, but the old AOL page remains a favorite with guests because the personality of the innkeepers really shines through in its friendly, folksy text and layout. Once you make a reservation, you are e-mailed a large attachment file which contains another avalanche of info about the best restaurants and suggested itinerary. The file you receive is custom-tailored to the length of your stay. All this before you even get off the plane! The Creole taxi driver who brings you from the airport to the Inn is another fountain of New Orleans lore. You can literally save the money you would spend on the Gray Line Super City Bus Tour because Ferdinand is better than their tour guide! If this is your first visit to New Orleans, you can't go wrong staying at the main B&B. If you are a more seasoned visitor, try one of their townhouses. My daughter and I greatly enjoyed the privacy of the Garconierre and not having to stick to any routine during our trip. We plan to return SOON!

We never met Hugh and Mary in person. They were both very friendly over the phone. They arranged for their representative, Cheryl, to meet us at the property we rented from them in Algiers Point. The apartment was as advertised and exactly what we were looking for in a short term rental. Cheryl left milk, juice, donuts, and fruit. She also came back during our stay to drop off more. The Delaronde compound (203) is a very short walk to the ferry and was very convenient to everything we wanted to see in New Orleans. It was perfect for two adults and two children.

My husband and I stayed with Mary and Hugh last year for our wedding anniversary. He had been to New Orleans but I had never been. I found their B&B and sent the link to my husband. Needless to say, he was hesitant about staying at a B&B (neither of us had ever stayed at one). I told him to try it once and see if he liked it. We loved it so much, we are going back this year for our anniversary again! They are more affordable than most of the hotels it the area and the hospitality can't be beat. They give out enough information to find your way around the French Quarter that even someone who had never been there can find their way with ease. They also have excellent suggestions for restaurants to go to and things to do and see!
