Bed and Breakfast Guide Adds Instant Reservations to Website
DENTON, TX - Now using the internet to find and reserve that
quaint B&B
for your weekend getaway is even easier. International Bed and
Breakfast
Pages (IBBP.com) announces online reservations capabilities
directly from
their website.
IBBP contracts with Inntopia.com and Webervations,
real-time online reservations
systems, to provide electronic booking forms. Each inn listing
on the IBBP
website has the option to subscribe to either service.
According to founder Yvonne Tornatta, "the reservations
feature makes us a
comprehensive inn-finding and booking service. It helps both innkeepers
and
travelers to streamline." Tornatta hopes to have the majority
of IBBP
listings on a reservations system within the next 18 months.
Originally conceived as a starting point for travelers seeking
to compare
accommodations before making travel plans, IBBP provides information
on bed
and breakfasts, inns, homesteads, farmsteads, cottages and villas
located
throughout the world. Formerly, once you found accommodations
on the IBBP
site, you called the inn to check availability and make reservations.
Now,
for those inns subscribing to the online booking service, a "make
reservations now" icon leads to an electronic booking form.
You can instantly
check availability and confirm your stay.
Traditionalists who'd rather reserve a room by phone will find
the service
useful too. "People who stay in B&Bs often like to contact
the inn directly
and ask questions," Tornatta says. "Even if travelers
choose to book by
phone, this system lets them know the inn has availability before
they call."
Based in Vancouver, Washington, 5-year-old IBBP currently lists
1500 inns
from 40 countries, adding 50-100 listings per month. The site
appears in
"Internet Cool Guide: A Savvy Guide to the Best Destinations
on the Web" (c.
1999, te Neues publishing). It was featured in the February 2000
London Times
Sunday Travel section's "Essential On-Line Travel Sites."
