Easy Baked Apples

A delicious dish that you won't slave over, this great breakfast starter can also be served for dessert.

Serves 4

4 tart apples (such as Granny Smith)
4 Tbs. brown sugar
4 Tbs. butter, softened
1 tsp. grated orange zest (rind)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
2-3 tsp. currants or raisens
Orange juice
Sour cream as desired

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Clean and core apples. Cream the butter and beat in the brown sugar, zest , cinnamon, nutmet, and cloves. Fill the apples with the mixture and top each with currants or raisens. Place the apples in an ovenproof glass baking dish. Carefully pour about 1/2 inch of orange juice into the dish.

Bake apples 30 - 45 minutes until tender, but not ruptured. Spoon juice over the apples. Add a dollop of sour cream if desired and serve warm.
