| | DESCRIPTION | |
The Edificio de los Pavos Reales (building of the peacocks), as it is affectionately known, is an historic landmark building conveniently located in the Balvanera/Almagro section of Buenos Aires. Built in 1912 by the famed Italian architect Virginio Colombo, it employs the Art Nouveau style with a distinctive Venetian flair. The name of the building is derived from the four balconies of the facade. They have beautiful carvings of peacocks, which over time have become the most identifiable features of the building. Our guest accommodations offer visitors a unique experience; to actually stay in one of those amazing buildings you often see when visiting another city, but can normally only wonder at what it must be like inside. The balcony is accessed solely from the two-room suite offered to our guests, which accommodates up to two couples. One of the rooms contains a loft that can be used as a dressing and/or office area. The loft is furnished with a beautiful Queen Anne vanity which functions as a desk, as well. Below the loft, there is a cozy living area that converts easily into a second bedroom by exchanging the couch for a full size bed. The living and dining rooms are at the complete disposal of our guests, as is the small library of books, which contains volumes on the Art Nouveau movement, as well as useful tourist information and other literature. Exquisitely furnished with antiques of the period, it's not only comfortable and pleasing to the eye, it presents the apartment in a historically accurate design. There is a full, private bathroom dedicated to the suite with a lovely shower, the window of which peeks out to a beautiful patio, also at the complete disposal of our guests. If for some reason your plans don't include a stay with us, we hope youll take advantage of our Historic Home Tour during your visit to Buenos Aires. We look forward to seeing you soon.
